Twitter for iPad is now live in the App Store, Twitter announced in a tweet at midnight Eastern Time this morning, Sept. 2, 2010.

Twitter wrote in a blog post:

Twitter For iPad Launches: Official App Debuts In Apple Store

At least seven people have been injured in an incident at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station in Washington D.C. tonight.

The official Washington D.C. Fire and EMS Twitter feed posted that a “large brawl” took place at the L’Enfant Plaza station, involving “poss mass casualty.” Moments later, it tweeted, “EMS treating at least 7 patients – Mass Casualty Task Force requested.”

Another incident was reported at the Anacostia Metro Station not long after, first identified as a shooting. Around midnight Eastern Time, D.C. Fire and EMS said that the Anacostia incident was “NOT a shooting, however related to L’Enfant Plz incident.”

BNO News reports that a shooting did take place at the L’Enfant Metro station around 11:15 p.m. Eastern Time. There is no confirmation that a shooting took place, however.

Twitter user @fettweis claimed to be at the scene, posting, “Was on Metro for fight at L’Enfant, heard no gun shots, just a crazy fight. I’m safe.”

A spokesperson for the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services told BNO News that the situation is under control.

Lebron James Knicks:LeBron James may be headed to the New York Knicks, according to reports today, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 — one day before free agent signings can be made official.

Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley tweeted about 2 p.m. Eastern Time., “Breaking News!!! My sources tell me Lebron will announce that he will be goin to the NY KNICKS tomorrow on ESPN.. This is serious.. WOW!!!!”

The rumor took a life of its own when @ESPN_FirstTake, which has 70,000 followers, retweeted Dudley. Hundreds of retweets followed, though the ESPN account later deleted the retweet. ESPN is broadcasting LeBron James’ announcement live tomorrow night, beginning at 9 p.m. EST.

Dudley posted a follow-up tweet to his “breaking news” alert, “That’s what I’m hearing.. I don’t care where he goes lol.. I personally thought he would stay in Cleveland..”

President Barack Obama will speak about the BP oil spill tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, and you can watch the speech LIVE along with tweets below.

In a press conference on May 27, Obama was insistent that his administration was calling the shots in responding to the worst oil spill in U.S. history, not BP.

Tonight Obama will focus on five main points, including the steps his administration has made and the containment strategy for the oil spill, according to a White House official.
