Latest News Update About Dravid : A new study ranking the best Test batsmen of all time has placed Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid higher than Sachin Tendulkar, considered the God of Indian Cricket.
Ironically, the number one Test side in the world do not feature any Indian batsman in the top five. Moreover, only five Indian batsmen figure in the list of 50, prepared by two economists — Prof Vani Borooah of the School of Economics and the Social Policy Research Institute and Prof John Mangan from the Department of Economics, University of Queensland.
The scientific paper — The Bradman Class: An exploration of some issues in the evaluation for Test matches from 1877 to 2006 — ranks top 50 batsmen from all eras. Going by the title, the obvious topper in the paper is Australian cricketer Don Bradman.
The study based on criteria like the batsman’s career average, value of runs scored to the team and consistency places the world’s highest run-getter — Tendulkar — at the eleventh position along with his childhood friend Vinod Kambli.
The study places Sehwag (sixth) and Dravid (tenth) ahead of Sachin as far as value of runs scored to the team is concerned.

Latest Update News Fantasy Football Rankings: It took Brett Favre until the middle of August to make his decision to play for the Vikings for the second year in a row.
While the media tried to suggest that Favre would retire earlier this month, I think most NFL fans realized it was just news for the press to have something to talk about.
Now, Favre will make another run at winning a championship, and the Vikings have a chance at the win that they wouldn’t have had without him.

Latest Update News Oakland Raiders: The sad story of Oakland Raiders 2007 NFL 1st Round Draft Pick Quarterback Jamarcus Russell continues. Jamarcus Russell appeared in court Wednesday, in Mobile, Alabama.
According to WKRG via Pro Football Talk, a friend, Marcus Stevenson, tried to take the fall for Russell.
When he did that, Stevenson was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, as PFT reports. But the WKRG report is more interesting:
Stevenson, when questioned by prosecutors, said he and Russell had partied at clubs the night before and returned home around 7:00 am on July 5th.
We were still hanging out,” said Stevenson, who told the judge that Russell took a woman to his bedroom when he went to sleep in the early hours of the morning. The woman was gone before police arrived that afternoon, according to the testimony.

Latest Update News Mike Sweeney: Mariners have traded Mike Sweeney to the Phillies for a PTBNL.
Well, I certainly didn’t see this one coming. Sweeney has actually been good this year, posting a .354 wOBA, though frequent injuries have only allowed him to accumulate 110 plate appearances.
Mike’s time in Seattle has certainly had its moments – shaving cream pies, threatening to fight teammates, promoting the nicknames ‘Paper Boy” and “FiFi”, among others.
I think what I’ll remember him most for, though, will be his general likability, and the relationship he formed with Ichiro.
The post-walk-off interactions those two shared were some of my favorite moments from the 2009 season. Much like Griffey,
Mike Sweeney was seemingly able to form bonds with everyone around him, and while the team not sucking certainly helped, I can’t deny that he was a part of what made last year such a special thing to watch.

Latest Update News Leticia Bufoni: Leticia Bufoni- Last June 26, hundreds of people ran through the doors of Boston’s TD Garden and rushed up the escalator stairs to the balcony of the stadium to watch the first of five stops on the 2010 Dew Tour and IFC Skateboarding World Championships.
Leticia Bufoni, the 17-year old from Brazil, was out on the course and never missed a chance to skate across the course in the short transition period between runs. Not surprisingly, she led by more than 10 points at 81.
50 in the first semifinal heat. She consistently landed jumps across the gaps that other competitors did not even attempt and difficult tricks on the grind rail. Sure is an amazing skater.

Latest Update News Paris Rosen: The competitior lands on his back while attempting a trick and lies motionless on the course for several minutes.
He is taken to a hospital for X-rays; his manager says Rosen was able to move his toes.
The near-absence of noise was the telling sign, just what you didn’t want to hear at the X Games. Rarely had it been so quiet at Staples Center.
Motocross rider Paris Rosen was motionless on the course and was staying that way as the minutes ticked off.

Latest Update News Federico Macheda: After yesterday’s All Star vs. Manchester United game everyone is talking about Fedrico Macheda. Federico Macheda is the player who made his team win the match; Macheda scored two goals for his team in the first thirteen minutes of the game.
When Macheda scored the goals the crowd screamed with joy. I am sure the crowd in Houston must have enjoyed the goals scored by Macheda.
There was pressure on both the teams for winning the match, the All Stars were more confident in this mach because they had won six matches in a row before this one.
The All Stars also had the home advantage and the team came into the field with the aims of defeating the Manchester United team.

Latest Update News Jhonny Peralta: Do you know who started last night at second base for the Detroit Tigers? How about third? Shortstop? The answers to those questions (in order) are: Will Rhymes, Scott Sizemore, and Ramon Santiago.
The answer to one of those questions starting soon will be Jhonny Peralta as the Tigers have acquired him from the Cleveland Indians for lefty pitcher Giovanni Soto.
Peralta is due less than $2 million the rest of the season and has a $7 million club option for next season with a quarter of a million dollar buyout. Cleveland moved the 28 year old to third base in 2009 and used him there exclusively this season.
He will ostensibly remain there for a lack of options, such as returning to shortstop; if the proof is in the pudding then Peralta has devoured any evidence that he can still handle the six-hole.

Latest Update News Lorenzen Wright: The NBA world is so warped, the values so skewed that sometimes the simplest acts can seem extraordinary. That was the case when Lorenzen Wright offered to drive his friend and colleague around.
But it was that small measure of grace, far from the normal image of the self-centered professional athlete, that popped into Johnny Doyle’s mind when he heard that Wright was found dead Wednesday.
Doyle was the Clippers’ strength and conditioning coach when Wright first played in the NBA near the end of the 1990s, and Doyle was the beneficiary of Wright’s “good guy” persona you heard mentioned so often Wednesday.
When Doyle wrecked his car in a crash it was Wright who spent a week driving Doyle to practice or wherever else he needed to go.
Wright had a Chevy Tahoe, which he was particularly fond of because its red paint matched the color of his college fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi.
After Wright left the Clippers to sign a free-agent contract with the Atlanta Hawks, he’d still drive Doyle around whenever the Clippers came to Atlanta.

Dez Bryant: SAN ANTONIO — Midway through his first NFL practice, Dez
Bryant snared a 12-yard crossing route from Tony Romo in full stride. Bryant gave a defender a little hip move, then sped toward the sideline before turning upfield and racing 50 yards into the end zone.
No one bothered to give chase.
For the roaring 19,437 at the Alamodome for the start of Dallas Cowboys training camp, it might as well have been a December game against a hated NFC East foe.
“The crowd made me work hard,” Bryant said. “The fans are showing me a lot of support and I’m going to do the same for them by giving everything I have on the field.” Read More:
